Jan. 9, 2022 – KOCO 5 News will feature special programming shining a light on work being done in the community to fight hunger and broadcast live from the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma during Helping Hands Day on Friday, Jan. 13. The programming will highlight the Holiday Match, which doubles all donations, up to $350,000, to the Regional Food Bank through Jan. 15, thanks to presenting sponsor APMEX and the Cresap Family Foundation.

“Our viewers have really stepped up during the holiday season to help their neighbors who are less fortunate,” said Brent Hensley, president and general manager of KOCO 5 News. “I thank them for the support and urge them to finish with another big push.”

Throughout KOCO’s Helping Hands Day programming, anchors Shelby Cashman and Evan Onstot will broadcast live from the Regional Food Bank during the morning and evening shows, respectively. Regional Food Bank staff including Stacy Dykstra, chief executive officer of the Regional Food Bank, will join both Shelby and Evan live during their broadcasts. As official television sponsor of the Regional Food Bank’s Holiday Match, KOCO has featured the impact of donations over the past several months.

“Leadership and staff at KOCO have a passion for fighting for hunger,” Dykstra said. “We are so thankful to partner with KOCO during the Holiday Match and are always blown away by the response we see from their loyal viewers.”

Oklahoma consistently ranks as one of the hungriest states in the nation. The Regional Food Bank distributes food to 53 counties in central and western Oklahoma through its network of community-based partners.
